|About the Position: This is a two-year, Post-Doctoral position at Western Washington University’s Shannon Point Marine Center located in Anacortes, WA. This position is part of a collaborative NSF-funded study to explore how ocean acidification affects phytoplankton physiology and biochemistry and how these changes, in turn, influence copepod reproductive output.
|About the College/Department: Shannon Point Marine Center is a center for marine education and research situation in a 78-acre biological preserve 45 miles from the main Western Washington University campus, and is surrounded by remarkably diverse marine habitats. |Position Responsibilities: The primary role of the post-doctoral research associate will be to explore how ocean acidification affects phytoplankton lipid profiles, and how these changes affect copepod reproduction. You will work within an interdisciplinary team of faculty, and graduate and undergraduate students. Mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students is a component of the Postdoctoral Research Associate position.

- Ph.D. in biological oceanography, biology, marine chemistry or related field
|Preferred Qualifications: |
- Experience culturing phytoplankton and zooplankton
- Experience using GC-MS
- Ocean acidification research experience
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
