|About the Position: A position in Liberal Studies as a three-quarter visiting Instructor of South Asian Studies, in Fall, Winter and Spring quarters of the 2012-2013 Academic Year, beginning September 25, 2013. Salary is competitive.
|About the College/Department: Liberal Studies is an interdisciplinary humanities department with a focus on cultural history and the academic study of religion. The department offers two B.A. Humanities degree programs in History of Culture and Religion and Culture, and minors in Humanities and Study of Religion.
|Position Responsibilities: To teach 7 courses: 3 sections of LBRL 271: Humanities of India; 3 sections of LBRL 378: Religion and Society of India; and one section of a 300-level course of your choice, with a cap of 25. (Sample syllabi are available upon request.)
|Required Qualifications: |
- PhD or ABD, with training in social or cultural history of any period of South Asian history, and ability to teach both introductory and upper division courses on South Asia.
|Preferred Qualifications: |
- Some previous classroom teaching experience; and a background in the study of religion and/or gender studies.
