Assistant or Associate Professor of Operations Management
About the Position: A full-time, tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Operations Management. Position is subject to funding availability. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and MBA level Project Management and Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management courses. The starting date is September, 2014. Additional expectations include scholarship and service. About the College/Department: The Department of Decision Sciences is one of five departments in the College of Business and Economics. The department includes the areas of Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Management Science/Statistics, and Management Information Systems. The department has nine tenure-track faculty members and 250 undergraduate majors. 

The Department of Decisions Sciences offers a Bachelors of Arts in Operations Management and a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management (MSCM). The MSCM degree is an interdisciplinary program with courses in business, operations management, and manufacturing engineering with a required six months of internship experience. The MSCM Advisory Board includes regional organizations like Boeing, Microsoft, and Starbucks to support the program. Recently, the Boeing Company established a Project Management Scholars Program with the MSCM degree to provide six-month internships in project management.
Position Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or ABD in Operations Management or Supply Chain Management or equivalent terminal degree with expectation of completion by Fall 2014; ABD candidates would be hired at the lecturer rank
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching or the demonstration of teaching promise
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Scholarship record commensurate with the number of years since completion of the Ph.D
  • Ability to teach Project Management at both undergraduate and MBA levels
  • Ability to teach additional Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management courses
  • High degree of professionalism and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse students and colleagues.
  • For appointment at the Associate Professor level, demonstrated participation in curriculum and program development, and significant published research.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional experience in the operations and supply chain management fields
  • MBA or equivalent degree
  • Experience in Supply Chain Management curriculum design and development
  • Ability to work effectively with industry executives
