Temporary Grounds Maintenance
About the Position: Full-time temporary grounds maintenance duties in various parts of campus. Total work hours will not exceed 1,050 hours in any consecutive 12-month period from the original date of hire.

This position is part of a Washington Federation of State Employees bargaining unit.  New employees are required to comply with the requirements of the current collective bargaining agreement at 350 hours of employment.

About the College/Department: Facilities Management
Position Responsibilities:
Each hiring department may require a different set of skills. This is a basic list of responsibilities:
  • Pick up and Empty trash
  • Operate small gas powered equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, edgers and blowers
  • Work independently
  • Pull weeds  
  • Sweep and/or blow off walkways and streets as needed
  • Debris removal Grading and raking
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Required Qualifications:
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with a good work ethic
  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation, including but not limited to:
    • Weeding
    • Mowing
    • Trimming
    • Blowing
    • Lifting up to 50lbs
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in the use of landscape materials and methods
